S
uki Allen was born and raised by amazing parents in the Bay Area of California. She moved to Oregon in 1995 to go to college, and never left. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Womens Studies and a Minor in Fine Arts from the University of Oregon. She lives in a small cottage in Portland with her wonderful partner, and makes art in her 100 square foot studio that is nestled between the lilacs and lilies in her their front yard.

Her work is influenced by nature, farming and the abundant bird life that she feels lucky enough to call yardmates. The bird books in her home are tagged and dog-eared and when a new friend flies in she is eager to learn it’s name. Her background is in printmaking and she is currently working with linocuts, scratchboard, drawing, painting and collage. “I love the feeling of getting lost in my studio. I love when I disappear, my critical mind stops and my hands just make, make, make. My partner and I call these moments…”when the elves come out.” I am so thankful for the elves, and the respite artmaking provides.” Currently, you can find Suki’s work in shops and boutiques in the Portland Area, and on her Etsy site. Thank you.
